GreenSurf Nicaragua is owned / operated by a partnership between 1 Gringo & 2 Nicaraguans that has been the same from the very beginning, contrary to other similar establishments in the area. We don't know of another nearby surf camp that is owned by Nicaraguans. Gringo Dave, originally from Florida, relocated to Nicaragua following a passion for surfing that began in the early teenage years with surf/travel experience in over 15 countries, including Peru, Costa, Indonesia & the Philippines. Gringo Dave explored the North Central Pacific region of Nicaragua and other areas for 6+ months before opening GSN and the exploration has not stopped since March 2009. Both Nicaraguan partners have deep rooted history and a respected family name, one whose great grandfather was the President of Nicaragua generations ago, and the other currently holds a senior level position in the Nicaraguan tourism division in Managua. This partnership allows for an unparalleled, safe & authentic dive into Nicaraguan culture with true Nicaraguan hospitality.

Your GSN team at the beach has been the same from the very beginning! Jon, your surf / safety guide and professional EMT has an expansive knowledge of the breaks in North Central Nicaragua. No other surf tour guide in this region can come close to Jon's qualifications and Jon charges the surf. We do not have tour guides come and go every 3 to 6 months. The same is true of our beloved chef Chilo. We went searching in the local pueblos for an excellent Nicaraguan chef and we are truly blessed to have Chilo on our team. She is not French or American trained. She is Nicaraguan to the core and she will provide you with some of the dankest, traditional Nicaraguan meals and even some extra treats too. 100% of our past clients will attest to this!

Your surf tour really is a tour and we run it properly. We do not limit our spot checks to the typical beaches that most people know about already such as Miramar/Sandino, Pochomil, San Diego, Salinas Grandes. There are 25+ different breaks available in this region and we know when is the proper time to check them based on tide/swell direction/size. GSN has been granted various exclusive land access to some breaks thanks to the private land owners as well. We also run this tour RESPONSIBLY and do not take beginners or even intermediates to a heaving barreling slab who have no business being in the lineup. For certain (secret) spots we pre-qualify clients before we take them there. Just because you purchased a boat trip does not mean we will take you anywhere you want. This is for the protection of the break & the safety/enjoyment of all!

GreenSurf Nicaragua is the ONLY surf camp / tour in the region with its base camp located in a beautiful PRIVATE beach. We do not need to lock our boards up at night as we have never had a problem with thievery. You will not see trashed littered all over this beach and other less than desirable sights that can be found in some other public beaches. We are less than a 15 minute drive from Miramar/PS, so after we surf the excellent waves there, we return to our beautiful private base camp. We are also the only camp / tour in the region with a beautiful sister facility located in the beautiful fishing pueblo of El Transito.
